Barefoot In America
© 2003 Philip Maffetone

I walk out my door each night and every day
And wanna test my freedom so I stay out ‘n play
I go anywhere I want with nothing on my feet
To church and school and restaurants with everyone I meet

I go Barefoot in America freedom everyday
Barefoot in America barefoot all the way

They tell me not to enter here it says I can’t come in
I ask them for a beer they tell me no I ask for gin
I drive my car without my shoes no law can stop me now
I get those looks and I just muse when some applaud I bow

Barefoot in America freedom everyday
Barefoot in America barefoot all the way

I stop to see my lady friend in her shiny badge and blues
I offer to bend, down, and take off her shoes
I go anywhere I please with nothing on my feet
I’m free here in America with everyone I meet

Barefoot in America freedom everyday
Barefoot in America barefoot all the way
Barefoot in America freedom everyday
Barefoot in America barefoot all the way
